Far from Triumph

How easily
I become hollow
Far from the mountains
I’ve sculpted with care

So swiftly
I become derailed
A tower of ruin
Overrun by despair

Exhaustion clings
Forcefully
And the earth grows silent
Withering, unclaimed

How I’ve thoughtlessly
Disbanded
Succumbed to a fear
I've coddled deep within

A Farewell to Panorama

The scenic view
Has diminished once again
Undone by a passing flicker
And the final gusts
In close pursuit

Cradled in desolation
I am doomed to conspire
To conceive tomorrow’s plains
Of vibrant green
And meandering veins of blue

Shall it come to pass
In these infertile moments
Shall its roots sprawl in defiance
And triumph over the dust

The mind strains
But the cause is all for naught
And the moments defer
Like herds at a drover’s call

Splinters

Like cheap driftwood
Torn asunder
Spiraling hopelessly
In a stormy river’s current

Speeding
For whatever looms
The glorious culmination

I am destined
To be swept away
My demise unheard
For kin have fallen deaf

Skewered upon rock
The wail of strife calms
Gradually winded
Hoarse, as the earth pulls away

There are no splinters
Washed without care
Upon a lone, distant shore

Only the careless hum
Of daily strife
The urge to carry on
